At first glance, the name Three Boobs Brewing Company tends to make people smile, laugh, or raise an eyebrow. But the truth behind the name has nothing to do with anything crude, and it certainly has nothing to do with movies or pop culture.

The name actually comes from something far more meaningful: friendship, family, and a lifetime of shared experiences.

Three families grew up together here in Tennessee. Our kids played together, we went to school together, worked at the same place together, and over the years we built the kind of friendships that last a lifetime. Through decades of life — raising kids, careers, and eventually retirement — the three families stayed close.

One day, while the kids were acting up, one of the adults jokingly called one of them a “boob.”
Not stupid.
Not an idiot.
Just a boob — the old-fashioned word for someone being a little goofy.

Everyone laughed.

From that moment on, the nickname stuck.

The families started calling each other “the boobs.”
It became a running joke, a term of affection, and a reminder that life shouldn’t always be taken too seriously.

Years later, when the idea of opening a brewery came along, the name practically chose itself.
